Ylang Ylang essential oil comes from the Canaga tree which is found in the south sea islands like Mauritius, Tahiti, Seychelles, and The Philippines. Oil is distilled from the flower of the tree to make the oil. The flowers come in pink, mauve, and yellow and only bloom at night. Ylang Ylang, meaning “flower of flowers” in Malayan, has a scent that is intensely sweet with tropical notes and exotic woody undertones.

Ylang Ylang is known to boost mood and energy, as well as relax the nervous system. This results in more joy, aids in self expression, and creates a sense of peace. It favours resolutions of disputes, even those with ourselves. Use it to find serenity within. It is well known for its aphrodisiac qualities as well as being an antidepressant, antiseptic, and may help with lowering blood pressure. It can help balance hormones and is often added to creams to help with dryness.Using Ylang Ylang oil can help bring out a fiery passion. People find its scent soothing, euphoric, and erotic. It can help awaken sexuality, especially the feminine side. It can be used in infertility spells and to increase libido.

Some people may find the scent of Ylang Ylang to be too strong. It can be blended with lemon or bergamot to lighten the fragrance. Adding Ylang Ylang to a diffuser can help bring a sense of calm to the space. Burning it as an incense stick or in a diffuser after an argument is a great way to promote reconciliation. Carnelian:

Carnelian largely comes from India, but can also be found all over the world. It was called the 'sunset stone' by the ancient Egyptians because of its fiery hues. Most typically found in an orange to red colour, but it can also range from pink to brown. Carnelian focuses its power on physical vitality. It aids with stimulating muscles and keeping oxygen flowing through the body. This can help with lower back problems as well as flushing out organs to aid with detox. Orange carnelian in particular may help boost fertility and increase libido. Use it to light your own inner fire and explore your sexual power.

Carnelian focuses on the heart and sacral chakra which promotes vitality, creativity, and grounding in the present moment. Warriors once wore carnelian for courage. Today it can be used to encourage us to find new adventures and add fun & spontaneity to our lives. It can give us the motivational boost to create new projects or see new ways of tackling old projects. Use carnelian to free yourself from expectations and try new things. Sing, paint, dance, be free and allow its healing properties to help energize the side of you that wants to explore. Clean carnelian frequently as it will absorb the negative energy from other crystals. This is great for other crystals in your collection, but just requires a little more attention to keep it in its optimal state to transmute its energy freely. Use any regular method for cleansing crystals that you prefer, smoke, water, or sound. You can wear it as jewelry, or place it in your home or on your altar. Cacao and cocoa are often mistaken for one another. They come from the same source, however cacao is the raw, unprocessed form of cocoa. Often found in nibs, powder, chips, or even chocolate bars. These plants grow in Central and South America and have been used for thousands of years, particularly by the Mayans, both in ceremony and for its health benefits.

Cacao is packed with flavonoids, which help lower blood pressure, improve blood flow to the brain and heart, as well as aid in prevention of blood clots. It contains many essential vitamins and minerals. With the increased blood flow to the brain, cacao improves brain power and the ability to complete cognitive tasks. It reduces fatigue, provides stress relief, and improves the skin's appearance. Cacao also stimulates digestive enzymes to promote gut health and nutrient absorption along with bowel regularity. Mugwort is a perennial herb with many branches lush with dark green leaves that have white undersides. It can grow reddish brown or yellow flowers. It originated in eastern europe and western asia, but is now found world-wide. It is easily accessible and grows very easily. Its medicinal power comes from thujone, a chemical that induces a sense of being “high” and therefore should be used with some caution and should not be used in pregnancy, except when nearing labour. However, mugwort is used in many cuisines, particularly asian dishes.

Mugwort is used to boost energy, calm nerves, support digestion, relieve itching and pain, and can help promote regular menstruation. It can also assist with difficult childbirths. Using it may provide a restful night’s sleep by relieving anxiety. Mugwort can enhance vivid, lucid, and healing dreams and assist with receiving dream messages.

Mugwort is associated with witchcraft and is used as a protection charm against evil and danger. Its energy aligns with the moon, psychic eye, divine feminine, and dream magic. Using it can deepen spiritual practice and psychic abilities as well as open pathways to the divine. It helps us trust and honour cycles of life, the cycle of death and decay to rebirth, and transformation. Mugwort is a very intuitive herb that has the ability to find fog that may be clouding psychic abilities within. Kyanite:

Kyanite is most commonly sourced from Brazil and is often seen in a “blade” like shape. It comes in many colours like orange, green, black, and blue. The different colours connect to different chakras and each have unique characteristics on top of the general kyanite properties. Blue connects with throat chakra, green to the heart chakra, orange to the sacral chakra, and black to the root chakra.

This amazing crystal can get the body into tip top shape as it helps with overall recovery and stimulates energy. It is a natural pain reliever, helps fend off infections and decreases inflammation. It can help sharpen the mind and encourage healthy habits. Kyanite is used to drive away anger, stress, and confusion to allow for clear and concise thoughts.

Kyanite is a wonderful assistant with meditation and attunement. It can stimulate psychic abilities, intuition, and encourages psychic communication. This crystal is tranquilizing and a powerful transmitter and amplifier of high frequency energies.

Lemon has antiseptic properties and is a key ingredient in many cleaning solutions today, both commercially made and homemade. It invigorates the immune system and can help to relieve sore throats, coughs, colds, influenza symptoms, and fever. It is a tonic to the circulatory system and improves digestion as it makes the stomach more alkaline. Lemon is very cleansing for the whole body/ It can also ease varicose vein pressure and soothe insect bites and stings.

Citrine

Citrine is from the quartz family and is sold in its natural form or as heat-treated amethyst. Natural citrine is more rare. It’s colour ranges from pale yellow to brown/grey yellow. It is formed when either amethyst or smoky quartz are heated by the Earth’s mantle. More commonly sold is heat-treated amethyst which is a vibrant yellow/orange. Amethyst is heated in a kiln to mimic the Earth’s high temperature. Whether one prefers natural or heat treated citrine is entirely up to the user! Chemically, they are the same. In Bolivia, citrine and amethyst grow together creating a unique stone called Ametrine!

Said to have the power of the sun, citrine is a stone of abundance. It teaches to manifest and attract wealth, prosperity, success, and all good things. A stone that is warming and energizing, it helps us to boost creativity, impart joy, and encourages sharing. Use it to cleanse the chakras, particularly the solar plexus. Place citrine over the solar plexus prior to meditation to balance and activate the chakra.

It is a protector of auras and environments through the absorption, transmutation, dissipation, and grounding of negative energies. Citrine itself does not require cleansing, but it can be used to help cleanse other crystals. Using it with quartz can help boost its power. Citrine can also be placed in a purse, wallet, workspace, or worn as jewelry to help attract abundance.

Calendula

Calendula is a bright orange/yellow marigold flower that originates from the mediterranean area of southern Europe and grows year round there. Today, it blooms around the world and it’s vibrant energy radiates in gardens much longer into the colder months than many other plants. Associated with the Sun and solar plexus chakra, calendula brings positivity and light to all situations while also removing negativity.

Placing dried calendula in the bath prior to bed or sprinkling around the bedroom may help bring pleasant and insightful dreams. Calendula can also aid in communication with those who have passed on. Some cultures place this herb on the gravestones of loved ones to bring them comfort, amplify spirit communication, and help keep them present in our Earth side lives.

Historically, calendula has been used to treat many skin ailments, including wound healing. This is because of its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-fungal/microbial properties. This herb played a big role during the Civil War to aid injured soldiers! It is a great addition to creams, lotions, and salves. These products are easily found in stores or could be made at home.

Orange Essential Oil

The Orange tree blesses us with three different essential oils; Orange from the peel, Neroli from the white flowers, and Petitgrain from the leaves. Native to China and India, the orange tree was brought to Europe in the 17th century and ventured onward from there. It is well known that oranges are high in Vitamin C, which is useful in warding off colds and illnesses. It can be used to calm the stomach, especially a nervous one! Add a few drops to a carrier oil and massage onto the stomach to aid in digestion.

A natural antidepressant as it brings sunshine to gloomy thoughts, dispels tension, and relieves stress. Orange essential oil encourages a positive outlook when it’s citrus scent is in the air. The orange is associated with the Sun as it is reviving, energy boosting, and brings passion. It is great for cleansing and purifying spells.

Orange is a symbol of love, joy, and luck. Dreaming of oranges is a message of incoming abundance. Add the essential oil to a diffuser or add it directly into laundry, dishes, creams. It is also a helpful additive to facial creams for skin conditions such as breakouts or into balms for pain or joint swelling.

Amethyst is found on all continents with the largest deposits coming from Brazil and Zambia. It is a stone of a multitude of benefits such as cleansing, protection, and inspiration. This well-rounded healing crystal provides physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. It can calm or stimulate the mind, whichever is needed. Amethyst reduces scattered thoughts, calms the mind and allows space to focus & attune to a higher level of thought.

Through amplifying intuition and common sense, overall decision making and memory is improved. Amethyst can also strengthen the endocrine system and balance hormones, achieving harmony in the body & reducing stress.

Ashwagandha is a small evergreen shrub typically found on the Indian subcontinent. Traditionally, only the root of the plant is used and its name loosely translates to “the smell and strength of a horse,” alluding to its potential to boost vitality.

Ashwagandha may help with a wide range of issues such as nerve regeneration, immune support, stress reduction, hormone balance & enhance sexual potency. As an adaptogen, it is an important herb in Ayurvedic medicine as it achieves balance in the body by adapting itself to either boost energy or invoke calmness.

Memory, learning, and cognitive function can improve when the body is in balance. It may also help achieve holistic rejuvenation through harmony of the chi and chakra energies. Use it to enhance Kundalini spiritual practices as it opens and strengthens the root chakra. Ashwagandha can be taken as a tea (make using the decoction method) or mix the powder into your everyday cooking, warm drinks, oatmeal, honey or ghee.

Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense oil, also known as Olibanum, has a woody, spicy, slightly lemony fragrance. The oil is distilled from the Boswellia tree/bark resin originating in the Middle East, Africa, & India.

Frankincense may help reduce stress by calming the mind & nervous system and increasing mindfulness. It has also been helpful with alleviating pain, speeding up wound healing, and reducing scarring. Promoting the movement of Qi (vital energy or life force), frankincense can help to revitalize and uplift. Representing the element of fire, it can be used in spiritual rituals and meditations to help drive away negative energies.

Place drops of Frankincense oil in a carrier oil or unscented lotion to use topically or add in a diffuser.

You may have heard people say “the veils are thin” during this time of year. What this means is that the veils between dimensions or worlds is thinning. This time of year, the Spirit and Earthly realms will collide more than ever. It’s no coincidence that Halloween (known as Samhain, pronounced ‘sow-win’, in Pagan tradition) falls in October.

This time of year is the turning point as we move into the darker winter months. It is these transition periods that create liminal spaces. In nature, there are no clear borders or lines to distinguish one part of the earth from another. Think of liminal spaces as the in-between. You can’t separate where the sand on a beach ends and the ocean begins. The boundaries are blurred because everything in our universe is connected.

Through different practices we can tune into these liminal spaces with our own subconscious and begin to access the liminal spaces between our physical bodies and the world around us. Through meditation, somatic movement, trance, journey, dream work, or sleeping, is when we cross those veils between worlds and access different realms of knowledge.

The human body is this incredible vessel that has the ability to become a channel for Spirit and ethereal energy to be brought into the Earthly plane. We all have this innate ability. Like a tree, reaching to the sky with its crown, and channeling that energy down its trunk, through its roots and into Mother Earth.

Some of the things you may notice during Autumn and the thinning of the veils:

•increased synchronicities

•premonitions (in dreams) or déjà vu’s

•deep meditative states

•enhanced or vivid dreams

•increased clairvoyance and visions

•lots of creative inspiration OR body calling for deep rest and rejuvenation (or could be both!)

•ringing in the ears

•clairvoyance, clairaudience, claircognizance, clairsentience
